The Giro is over and we have a Canadian Winner! Mr. Hesjedal showed us all how a race can be one with consistency, smarts and the right mix of agression. While many thought that all he needed to do was sit tight and hang on in the crucial 19th and 20th stage, he instead took the race into his own hands and likely won the race because of this.
So tonight, I've come up with a course that I'm hoping will provoke (and reward) agressive riding. The route is a stew of previous Wed NIghters mixed together with something a little new for a cicuitious, hilly route that ends with a climb up Maki Road.
Here goes:
Meet at Steamy Bean for 6:30pm departure
Social Ride to Wallace Terrace/Allens Side Junction (spit into Groups)
West on Base Line to Airport Road
Left on Airport Road and continue past Point Des Chenes until it turns into Nokomis Beach Road
Continue to the end and turn around and go back up Airport Road to Second Line
East on Second Line to Carpin Beach Road
North on Carpin Beach to Third Line
Third Line to Allens Side then 2 full laps of (Allens Side/Fourth Line/Goulais/Third Line)
At the beginning of the 3rd lap instead of continuing up the Allens Side climb we will make a left on to Avery Road and go west to Maki. Right turn on Maki and finish with the hill climb. Finish is where pavement ends.
