The Sault Cycling Club believes in the power of trails to develop community. Our aim is to demonstrate that projects like the Finn Hill Mountain Bike Trail are complementary to municipal parks and playground infrastructure—with outstanding benefits to everyone in the community. Our long-term vision is a city-wide network of accessible, interconnected trails, making active transportation (such as cycling and walking) a viable option for all residents, no matter where they live.
Finn Hill Mountain Bike Trail - Project Update
The Finn Hill Mountain Bike trail Project is nearing completion thanks to the Transitions Bike Parks and the amazing trail building work by Matt Summers. The remaining work of installing culverts at the water crossings will be completed by Holocene Trail Building Co. We expect this work to be completed early this Fall and plan to hold an official grand opening shortly after!
We have received an enormous amount of community support for this project and want to extend a huge thank you to everyone who has helped out, donated or supported us along the way. We couldn't have done it without you!
A special thank you goes out to both of our Title Sponsors, Scott Beaumont at Lyons Timbermart and to Pioneer Construction.
We invite our friends and community minded partners to support this project that will bring safe and accessible mountain biking to the urban core of Sault Ste. Marie. The Finn Hill Mountain Bike Trail will be a 2 to 3-km flow trail for off-road cycling. This professionally designed trail will use the natural contours of Finn Hill, adjacent to the Hub Trail, the P-Patch neighborhood and Northern Avenue, to create a superlative cycling experience.
We’re looking for your support to hire trail-building professionals! The machine-made trail will be constructed exclusively on city owned land that’s far more accessible to the public than existing mountain bike trails at Hiawatha Highlands. It will provide children, students and adults outstanding access to the Hub Trail and improve an integral travel corridor. The Finn Hill Mountain Bike Trail is a great next step in Sault Ste. Marie’s emergence as one of Canada’s greatest “trail towns.”
How you can help.
- Make a donation
- Set up your own fundraiser to help support our project
- Share the campaign to friends and potential donors
All donations are appreciated regardless of the amount. Even the smallest donations add up and make a difference in the SCC’s ability to fulfill our mission to achieve this project to provide the community with an urban mountain biking experience.
Donors will be recognized to encourage others to follow suit. We’ll also honor supporters who prefer to remain anonymous.
Custom Stamped Coasters
We aren’t all in a position to support the trails as a Title, Feature or Trail sponsor, so we have set up the perfect way for you to make a small contribution should you wish to.
You can support a meter of trail for just $20 which comes with a custom stamped coaster with the meter # of trail that you supported! This is a great gift idea or employee recognition incentive.
